Hey it’s Larry Scott from the Institute of Hypnosis Research. Here is a question we get all time: “Why does hypnosis work so fast?” Hypnosis can be used for dozens of physical and mental conditions by tackling the root of the problems. So whether your goal is to lose a few pounds or to quit smoking entirely, hypnosis stands for a legitimate and viable method of doing so. And here’s the thing…
It actually works super fast
Believe it or not, some people put down the smoke or start losing weight after just one hypnotherapy session. And while it’s entirely possible that you won’t be among these people, hypnosis might still get you the desired results within a short time frame. Check out these recovery rates published by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. in his study of psychotherapy literature (it tells a lot).
- Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
- Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
- Hypnosis: 93% recovery after 6 sessions
But how is that possible?
Let me explain the mechanism behind hypnosis, so you’ll understand why these quick results are possible. During hypnosis, the hypnotherapist actually delves into your subconscious mind, because often, the root of mental or mindset problems lies deep within there. Did you know that the conscious mind only occupies 7-10% of our mind? It’s mind blowing, isn’t it?
But what about the remaining 90% of the human mind?
Well, that’s the subconscious mind, which is used for the storage of thoughts, ideas and beliefs. One example is your belief that “I know smoking is bad for me and it’ll cause lung cancer, but I don’t give a damn, since smoking feels good.” Now the hypnotherapist can actually alter (or completely replace) these thoughts in your subconscious mind, which again, occupies the 90% of your mind. For example, during a smoking cessation hypnotherapy session, you might hear your therapist saying things like “Cigarette smoke smells like exhaust smoke” or “The smoke will leave your mouth as dry as a bone.” So, it’s not hard to guess why hypnosis works so fast: it’s because it affects most of your mind!
Now that you know why hypnosis can be a quick and effective way of treating addictions, depression, eating disorders or simply altering your mindset to lose weight faster, it’s time to give it a try. Remember, hypnosis has absolutely zero risks or side effects and it’s actually a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.
